In Counter-Strike 2, a new wave of cheater blockages began, which caused panic among the developers of banned software. Since October 9, players massively report the operations of VAC Live right during the matches, and the sellers of the cheats advise customers to temporarily abandon the rating games. Allegedly, Valve has inconspicuously updated the anti-reading, although there is no official confirmation yet.

The first signs of change appeared in closed forums and Discord servers, where cheat developers discuss ways to bypass protection. Screenshots of correspondence published on October 9 the author of the news account Ozzny_CS2. Apparently, the usual VAC bypass tools stopped working, and users began to receive blockages even with relatively careful use of prohibited programs.

A particularly loud warning appeared in one of the forums. The author claimed that the probability of getting a VAC-ban in Premier mode reached 99.9%. There are no confirmed statistics behind the loud figure, but the recommendation to avoid rating matches shows how seriously the cheaters took what was happening.

According to the participants of the closed communities, the anti-chit began to recognize programs for viewing opponents through the walls (wallhack), automatic targeting (aimbot) and other means of obtaining a dishonest advantage. Complaints come even from users who have run cheats in so-called secure modes with limited features designed to reduce the risk of detection.
Individual cheat providers have warned customers about the dangers of semi-rage tactics. This is the name of a relatively aggressive game with software, when the user actively applies prohibited functions, but tries not to show quite obvious signs of fraud. According to the warnings, the previous settings no longer guarantee protection from VAC.

At the same time, reports of matches that VAC Live stops before completion have increased. Antichit is able to interfere directly with the gameplay when it detects suspicious behavior of the participant. For the rest of the players, this reaction means that the system does not necessarily wait for the meeting to take action against the alleged violator.

However, not every VAC Live trigger means the final blocking of the account. According to the rules of Valve, the system can disable the player from the match and issue a competitive restriction at least a day for suspicious behavior. A similar temporary punishment is sometimes received by the participants of the group who played together with the violator. Permanent VAC-ban is a separate sanction, so reports of interrupted matches cannot automatically be considered proof of mass indefinite blockages.

The discussion of the alleged update quickly went beyond the cheating forums. In the CS2 community, players talk about several stopped matches in one evening. Some argue that such cases have become much more frequent, although there are no independent statistics to assess the real scale of the changes. There are also complaints about erroneous positives, which cannot be checked only according to the stories of account holders.

The alleged strengthening of VAC Live occurred two months after the appearance of VACNet Labeling Portal. In August, Valve opened a special portal to a limited number of players, allowing you to manually mark video recordings of suspicious matches. Program participants view approximately three-minute fragments and point signs of using automatic aiming, viewing through walls, motion scripts, and game bots.

Markup is used to train VACNet models that analyze player behavior and help detect suspicious activity. Unlike the previous Overwatch system from Counter-Strike: Global Offensive, the evaluations of the participants of the new program do not directly lead to the punishment of the test player. Whether the current wave of blockages is linked to the learning outcomes of VACNet is unknown.

Valve has already faced the need to close the ways of bypassing its own anti-chat. In one of the CS2 updates, the developers corrected an error that allowed attackers to avoid VACNet verification. Such changes show that the fight against reading includes not only the detection of prohibited programs, but also the elimination of the ability to deceive the mechanisms of the defense itself.

While Valve has not published a technical description of the proposed October update, it is impossible to establish which algorithms have changed and how much the effectiveness of the detection of cheats has increased. The company also did not disclose the number of blocked accounts. Reports of thousands of affected cheaters and almost one hundred percent probability of punishment remain unconfirmed estimates of the participants of the gaming community.

For bona fide players, the main question is whether the current activity of VAC Live will continue after cheat developers adapt programs to new checks. The first reports point to noticeable problems for users of banned software, but it is too early to judge a long-term result. The fight against cheaters in Counter-Strike 2 is ongoing, and the alleged strengthening of the anti-reader has yet to be tested in practice.
